My Birthday (Yes, The One That Was Two Weeks Ago)

I need to read some tutorials on blog design. I'm having a pretty tough time. Once again I let way too much time go by between posts and now I have a lot to write about.

Start with my birthday? Alright then.

A couple days before my birthday this arrived in the mail! My parents rock :)

The night before my birthday I went to Grain and Gristle to wait for Tom to get off work. I treated myself to a cheese plate and some tasty cocktails. Alex, owner/brewer at Upright Brewing (as well as part owner of Grain and Gristle) had a special bottled beer that was just released that I absolutely loved. It was brewed with peaches. Perfect. For those of you interested in beer, here is an article about it.

The day of was nothing too eventful. It was a gorgeous day so Tom got up early to work on the Jeep and Roxy and I hung out in the courtyard with our neighbors and their pups. It was nice to just be outside for a few hours. One of our neighbors has a Jeep he was working on too, funny boys.

Once the Jeep was ready (he replaced the radiator and water pump, what a stud) we got ready and went to a sports bar to watch the game. Yeah, my birthday was on Super Bowl Sunday this year. It happens. We had fun though, and we discovered a bar with the coolest bar seats ever. We'll definitely go back just to try to claim a couple thrones for the night.

After the game Tom said we were going to dinner but he wouldn't tell me where. He took me to Bamboo Sushi! It was the best sushi experience of my life, I'm so happy he listens to me when I complain about cravings :) I need to get a nice camera so I can use flash to take pictures of food at restaurants. The iPhone flash sucks.

Bourbon and cukes.

Amazing presentation.

Salmon Eskimo Box.

Tuna.

The fish was so fresh and full of flavor, and the restaurant's focus is on providing sustainable fish choices so they had me impressed before I even tasted anything. I wish I would have written this post right after the dinner so I could explain the dishes in detail, but I'll let the pictures do the talking. And check out the website :)

Overall it was a great birthday weekend, mainly because I was lucky to spend it with Tom and Roxy. I'm blessed. And I hope you're craving sushi now.
