We woke up to an absolutely beautiful day. This was taken at the Williams/Grand Canyon KOA.
We had to drive a couple hours from the KOA to get to the South Rim entrance. The Grand Canyon was not on a direct route to Portland. We definitely went out of the way. But it was so worth it. Tom had never been. Last time I went I was 13. So this was a pretty exciting thing for us to experience together. Yes, it is basically a REALLY big hole. But it's so big it takes your breath away. The colors are amazing. And just realizing that such a big thing happened naturally is mind boggling. I tried to narrow it down to only a few pictures. Yes, there were way more than this to start with.
The South Rim is very touristy. A long trail runs along the rim, with benches and railings and places to take pictures.
I love them.
Haha.
It was so bright!
This one was actually taken after we started driving away from the South Rim.
Walking around after driving away from the South Rim.
A quiet spot we found off the beaten path after leaving the tourist area.
This was actually our first view at the South Rim. Sorry they aren't in order.

South Rim.
South Rim. Love the colors in this one.

South Rim. I love this one.
Some elk(?) we saw when we started driving.
Just a goofy one. It was actually candid. He pointed right when I tried to take the picture.
That's all I feel like posting for now. I'll finish day four later with all the other awesome pictures of Arizona.
