When we got to Flagstaff it was early in the evening so we walked around and checked out a few shops. Flagstaff is a really cool little city. Great laid back vibe. A little touristy, but still awesome. We ate dinner in Flagstaff at the Beaver Street Brewing Company. It was nice to sit down and have a couple beers and a hot meal. Poor Roxy had to stay out in the cold Jeep. Speaking of cold. While we were there we stopped by a Walmart to get another sleeping bag. I had checked the forecast for that night and saw it was supposed to get down to 20 degrees. So we needed more than a sleeping bag and a couple blankets. Even with our own sleeping bags, blankets, and the rain thing covering the tent, it was still FREEZING. I barely slept that night. We know for next time that we need the right sleeping bags and clothes if we plan on camping in that weather. But, we made it.
Pretzels at the Brewery.
One thing that made the cold bearable that night was the stars. Absolutely breathtaking. Tom said he had never seen stars like that before. I have at Fripp Island during the winter, but I still stared in awe while the cold wind whipped my face. A brilliant night sky is one of my favorite things in life. Unfortunately that isn't an easy thing to catch on camera, so you will just have to imagine :)
So before I end this post I want to mention a little about how much fun Tom and I had. I forgot to post these pictures in the earlier post, but this is what the Jeep looked like.
During the packing process.
Packed. That's Roxy's little nook.
The three of us spent DAYS together in this Jeep. Very little room, and when we finally got out at the end of the night, we slept on an air mattress in a tent. Needless to say, for some people this sounds miserable. But we had a blast. It was such an adventure. I think this trip was another example of how we are meant for each other. We got along (for the most part) the entire time, and we made the most out of a crazy situation. We got to experience so many amazing things together, this trip was really one of the best weeks of my life. Hopefully Tom can say the same :) Oh, and I know I mentioned it earlier, but Roxy was PERFECT. She slept almost the entire time we were in the Jeep, and when we were at the campsites she would run around but listened to me so well. She could have ruined this trip for us, but instead she made it better. I'm lucky to have such a great pup.
